TV LCD Options – Choosing The Right Television
The latest technology for televisions includes the popular TV LCD screen model. Older models have virtually disappeared from the shelves of retailers. The older models have been replaced by two different options. Older model televisions had screens that depended on tubes to produce the pictures, today’s models are tubeless models that depend on digital processors to produce the picture.
There are primarily two different models of televisions that have taken over the market.
TV Plasma Screen
There are televisions that are manufactured with Plasma Screens. Plasma televisions depends on molecules trapped between two sheets of glass combined with noble gasses. The technology is complex but simply put it produces a fabulous picture. Plasma televisions look like LCD televisions but there are some major differences one of which is the difference in energy consumption.
One of the biggest criticisms of Plasma TV is the amount of energy it consumes as it is estimated to consume twice as much energy as is consumed as an LCD model. There is also some burn in that occurs with the older Plasma TV’s.
These type of televisions are very slim and can easily be mounted to walls using a wall mount kit. They are very heavy unlike the TV LCD.
LCD Models
Liquid Crystal Display model TV’s depend on white fluorescent defused light to produce a picture, the technology is rather complex. There are some big advantages to the LCD models over the plasma models.
TV LCD models will consume less energy than a Plasma TV but still consume more than the traditional CRT screen models, but the TV LCD has an advantage over the Plasma in that it is lighter, and can go either up in size or down in size without losing the quality of the picture whereas the Plasma TV loses quality when it goes down in size.
Costs
LCD models have become available at a relatively reasonable cost, while the Plasma models have not lowered their prices as much.
An TV LCD model 42 inch TV can be purchased for less than six hundred dollars, smaller screens can run around three to five hundred dollars. It is expected that the cost will go even lower as technology for these models improve.
